Stumbled on to your video by chance but so glad I did as this has to be one of the most casually delivered and insightful Guitar build video's I've ever seen. You are a natural in front of the camera, I felt like I was in your workshop with you. Obviously I've subscribed. And what a beautiful instrument you have created, I'm inspired to build one myself and I love the colour. Good job mate.

Perhaps not having the UAFX Lion in constant bypass mode (at minute 22 and forward) will make it sound better.. but, what do i know!

I did this with my old M7 warlock 4 years ago for fun.

I had a 2000 Squier Stratocaster, gold label, purple sparkle, that I paid $130, used in an Austin, Tx pawn shop. I don't know what it sold for when new, but that was a fantastic guitar. Rosewood fretboard, galactic metallic purple, made in Indonesia. I loved that guitar, and it was a much better guitar than my Harley Benton ST 62 VW MN. I love the Harley, but I have to be honest, with a few adjustments the Squier was superb, where as the Harley is fun to play, but the quality of the instrument is a little bit lower than the Squier. I would have kept that Squier, but I used it to make a deal I don't think many people would pass up.

I'll keep the first one. It's apt for edgy tumultuous riffs for metal, hardcore or doom.

I will take durability over "sustain" any day since I would rather have long term stabler intonation than sustain which can be gotten from even a BOSS compressor pedal anyway.

I have a fairly decent pair of headphones. I don't hear a difference that makes a difference. Except for the Gibsons, which have a different tone

18:28 i see you swallow the allen key after using it. is that just after every saddle? so id need 6 for the whole project yeh? also, is there any other tools or parts im required to swallow to complete the project? im guessing ill also need gaviscon or tums? many thanks x

People get obsessed over the neck dive thing and end up hyperfocusing on it. It really isn't a big deal. When you play, your picking arm basically rests on the body keeping it in place. All you need is a 3" strap with suede on the bottom and you should have no issues. When you play sitting down just rest the body a little further back on your leg rather than using the waist of the guitar. It is pretty comfortable doing it this way actually. My SG's are my favorite guitars and they definitely felt weird as hell initially but then you get used to them and none of these things bother you anymore

Love your vids! On obsidian's website they say it does NOT fit anything other than Gibson USA or Epiphone with some modification. I have a Chinese built SX Guitars Les Paul. How did you find fitting it in an East Coast?

What's interesting is that once you mic your amp......it becomes digital. The truth is that there is no experience like having that amp in front of you. It's about the feel of the amps that drives you. But when you hear Van Halen I on your Bluetooth speaker or at a concert during the intermission..........it drives you. But it's digital Technology has gotten better and it's only getting better. It's BS if you can tell the difference in sound. There are plenty of YT videos that prove this. I say there are times to use that good ole tube amp and there are times to use that digital processor.

I loved playing Strandberg! I’ve played 2 a couple years ago and wanted one since. For me it was more about the neck profile that made so amazing. And of course the multi scale frets were way better than I thought it would be

I'm a leather worker and can tell you the leather dye is alchol based and can be "thinned" with 90% alcohol. In fact it is common to thin it down and just apply multiple coats. The dye does well this way.

Why?

Vintage guitars are always a bit dodgy, but if you are prepared to do a bit of work to them, mainly change the electronics, you will pretty much always end up with a great guitar. Pickups are always great, as is the rest of the hardware. Play it first and if you like it, it will be a great guitar.
